Socialized medicine: a nightmare around the Globe. December 18, 2009

Liberals want you to believe that countries with universal healthcare have a great system, and everything is sunshine, lollypops and rainbows!
But socialized medicine has proven itself not as a good healthcare system, but as an excellent deathcare system.
Let’s take a look at universal healthcare around the globe:
FRANCE: French workers pay about 19% of earnings in taxes for health insurance, and yet still more than 90% purchase complementary private insurance.
ITALY: The average wait for a mammogram is 70 days.
GREAT BRITAIN: About 20% of patients with treatable colon cancer at the time of discover are considered incurable at the time treatment is finally available.
CANADA: The Canadian Supreme Court ruled that the government must stop restricting the private sector from providing health care when the national system fails [that happens often]. Chief Justice Beverly McLach wrote: “Access to a waiting list is not access to health care.”
CUBA: “A major Cuban health care issue is the prevalence of induced abortion, largely because abortion has been used as a means to minimize the incidence of infant mortality … and as the country’s favorite birth control method.” [Sergio Diaz-Briquest, Cuban Communist 11th edition].
GREECE: Analysts believe Greece needs about 5000 general practitioners to meet demand, they currently have about 600.

President Barack Hussein Obama hit his own record today with an approval index of -19%.
The Rasmussen Poll shows that only 23% of voters strongly approve of the way he’s handling his job, while 42% of voters strongly disapprove.
Let’s see how low his poll numbers will get.
We the people are tired of socialism. I think they’ll listen to us once we show them that we are their bosses and that they won’t be hired once again.

Higher taxes than France… Doesn’t sound like a good idea. November 21, 2009

Since the Health Care debate began a couple of months ago, we realised that Democrats have a lot of talent and imagination when it comes to creating new taxes.
Currently, the top federal tax rate is 35%. In addition, the House of Representatives’ version of health care reform includes a 5.4 percent surtax on incomes over $500,000 a year. All these increases, combined with state and local income taxes, would raise the average top marginal rate in the U.S. to over 52 percent. This would be higher than traditionally high-tax countries such as Italy, Spain, and even France.
Let’s keep in mind that raising taxes in the middle of a recession is not the smartest thing to do. I would actually propose a tax relief, since people don’t have money in their pockets (maybe because the government takes it away).
Also, let’s remember that Obama promised last year while campaigning, not to raise taxes on the middle class. He would only tax “the wealthiest.” He probably should go back to kinder, there they could teach our President that 2 plus 2 equal 4 and that you can’t afford massive government spending by taxing just the wealthiest. Personally, I want lower taxes for everybody, and oppose any kind of tax hike on anybody.
The following is a list of the tax hikes included in the House of Representatives bill, the Senate bill and those other taxes that have been mentioned as a way of financing this government takeover of 1/6 of the American economy.
- An income surtax on taxpayers earning more than $500,000 a year
- An excise tax on high-cost “Cadillac” health insurance plans that cost more than $8,500 a year for individuals or $21,000 for families,
- An excise tax on medical devices such as wheelchairs, breast pumps, and syringes used by diabetics for insulin injections,
- A cap on the exclusion of employer-provided health insurance without offsetting tax cuts,
- A limit on itemized deductions for taxpayers with a top income tax rate greater than 28 percent,
- A windfall profits tax on health insurance companies,
- A value-added tax, which would tax the value added to a product at each stage of production,
- An increase in the Medicare portion of the payroll tax to 3.4 percent for incomes great than $200,000 a year ($250,000 for married filers),
- An excise tax on sugar-sweetened beverages including non-diet soda and sports drinks,
- Higher taxes on alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, and spirits,
- A tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage of up to 2.5 percent of their adjusted gross income,
- A limit on contributions to health savings accounts,
- An 8 percent tax on all wages paid by employers that do not provide their employees health insurance that satisfies the requirements defined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services,
- A limit on contributions to flexible spending arrangements,
- Elimination of the deduction for expenses associated with Medicare Part D subsidies,
- An increase in taxes on international businesses,
- Elimination of the tax credits paper companies take for biofuels they create in their production process–the so-called “Black Liquor credit,”
- Fees on insured and self-insured health plans,
- A limit or repeal of the itemized deduction for medical expenses,
- A limit on the Qualified Medical Expense definition,
- An increase in the payroll taxes on students,
- An extension of the Medicare payroll tax to all state and local government employees,
- An increase in taxes on hospitals,
- An increase in the estate tax,
- Increased efforts to close the mythical “tax gap,”
- A 5 percent tax on cosmetic surgery and similar procedures such as Botox treatments, tummy tucks, breast enhancements, breast lifts and face lifts,
- A tax on drug companies,
- An increase in the corporate tax on providers of health insurance, and
- A $500,000 deduction limitation for the compensation paid by health insurance companies to their officers, employees, and directors.
Seriously? I didn’t know I was living in France. I thought this was the United States of America.

The House Will Vote on Health Care Bill Tonight. November 7, 2009
Posted by commonsensepoliticsusa in Uncategorized.1 comment so far
Tonight, the US House of Representatives will vote on a bill, that if approved by both Houses of Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama, would mean a major takeover of 1/6 of the American economy by the government.
The bill proposes a new public plan, that would compete with private insurance in what the Democrats call “national health insurance exchange.” Even though the bill itself doesn’t propose a single-payer system, many independent experts argue that this bill would “evolutionate” towards a single-payer system.
I am asking you to join me on contacting our congresspeople. You still have time! Fax them, call them, e-mail them, or do anything, but contact them. Contact the Representative that represents your district, but also, if you can, try to fax or phone Blue dogs, if the democrats don’t have their votes, the bill is dead…
Here are some things you can include in your fax, letter, e-mail, etc., that if you have a little common sense you probably oppose
- Lower payments to physicians.
- Less quality of care. Less investments by the private sector to introduce new technologies.
- Shortage of doctors, since there would be little economic incentives, and less talented people would want to study so hard and make huge sacrifices for little money. Less doctors also mean less medical research and less medical progress.
- 400 billion cuts in Medicare
- Tax increases FOR EVERYBODY.
- The end of Medicare Advantage Plan. (You can check out a blog post I wrote some time ago on that, go to my blog’s archives)
- A fine and/or jail time to all those who don’t have health insurance.
- This bill is a complete assault on our freedom.
- 40% tax on medical premiums.
- Medical device like pacemakers, heart valves, artificial limbs, hip replacements, etc., will all be taxed.
